About Krisis
Krisis is a project which underlying aim is to suggest a reflection about different aspects of the permanent crisis and about the responsabilities which come from operating as designers, that is to say as the ones who shape things, both material and immaterial, within this contemporary scenario. Krisis has adopted the form of an archive: in other words a folder containing contributions, projects, interviews and research. In this way every issue acts as an archive for each individual emergency dealt with, in order to create an itinerary and a discussion between heterogeneous and multiform elements. The point of this approach is to create new constellations of meanings, starting from a multitude of particular elements, in such a way as to offer new perspectives and interpretations.

A crisis is an unexpected discontinuity. Every crisis requires specific actions to adapt to the new situation. When the frequency of these discontinuities doesn't allow an adaptation in a short period of time we talk about permanent crisis. The permanent crisis rises from the sudden convergence of different phenomenons:
- the acceleration of the scientific and technological progress
- the individual mobility
- the adfirmation of global capitalism
- the migratory movements
- the diffusion of the new media
- the global interconnection of the communication system

In front of a massive mediatization of reality the distance between what is lived and what is mediated becomes more and more fleeting. Signs, simbols, icons and messages which proliferate within the infrastructures of information are capable of conveying meanings that modify the perception of the environment, the identity of a community and the individual choices of people.

Krisis is a project by Unità di Crisi, a research unit composed by communication designer, theorists and teachers, focused on the phenomenon of the global and permanent crisis. Its main purpose is to identify some specific emergency situations and organize around them a research path that will be completed with the collection and documentation of the results in a series of periodical pubblications. Unità di Crisi is composed by visual communication studio Iknoki (Francesco D'abbraccio, Francesco Greguol and Christian Jugovac), Andrea Facchetti and Vincenzo D'abbraccio.
